Interviewees Wanted for Dissertation Research

My name is April Johnson and I am a student in a Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Alliant International University in San Diego, California. I am in the beginning stages of researching information for my dissertation, which will be on the topic of parents bereaved by the suicide of their youth.

Youth suicide is something that I've been very interested in researching since I was an undergraduate student. The rates are increasing, yet this issue still receives minimal attention. As a future psychologist who plans to work with children and families, I really feel the need to shed light on this issue which is why I've chosen to write my dissertation on this phenomenon. I feel very passionately about researching this topic and bringing it to the attention of other mental health professionals.  I would be interested in speaking to families who have been bereaved by their child's suicide, and are willing to share their stories with me. My hope is that their stories about their healing process will help other families and clinicians to better cope with this issue. I realize that this is a very personal and sensitive issue for families to discuss, and I completely respect their privacy.

Please contact April Johnson at: ajohnson2@alliant.edu
